Phytoplankton Climate Heroes

About This Event

Important note: To complete your registration for this session, you must also register for the full day event here: Oceans as climate heroes: mCDR Day The ocean is our planet’s unsung superhero, absorbing carbon, storing heat, and fighting climate change, but at great cost to its own health—and potentially our own. This event will explore bold, science-driven approaches like boosting marine phytoplankton growth to stimulate the ocean’s natural carbon sink and help rescue our climate future. Along with emissions reductions, we need to be ready to assess whether or not, and at what scales, marine carbon dioxide removal might benefit humans and our environment. We will bring together a panel with ocean science experts, along with representation from the fisheries and indigenous communities, and environmental NGOs, to consider the guardrails for responsible field trials and governance of our common ocean. Come add your voice to this growing discussion of ocean climate solutions. 🌊 Event Speakers : Moderator Sarah Smith , Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (Moderator) Speakers Ken
