Buried in a brownstone on one of the West Village's quietest streets, 4 Charles Prime Rib has the energy of a place that was never meant to be found and yet somehow everyone who matters already knows about it. With around 10 tables that are eternally booked, getting in requires either persistence, connections, or both. It's worth every effort: the prime rib is the main event, but the burger, two thin patties enrobed in American cheese with translucent pickles and a bun so squishy the whole thing fuses into one, is the best in the city, and anyone who's been here will tell you the same.
